Yesterday I went to the 1st Annual Natural Parenting Conference at Paideia Classical Academy in Coconut Creek, FL. I had plans to take pictures but accidentally left the memory card in the computer. I find events like these important because in my opinion, parenting naturally and positively is a part of nourishing our children fully. It is important not only to make sure that they have healthy foods to eat, but also to avoid toxins in their environment as much as possible and nurture their natural curiosity. I try to make sure I allow my son to be who he is as much as possible.
Due to some unexpected events, I got there late. Because I was crafting with my son, I didn’t get to watch any of the speakers other than the Q & A with Dr. Linda Colon of Coral Springs Holistic Pediatrics. It was a very interesting chat. It amazes me that some doctors are happy to embrace more natural methods of healing and not immediately jump to conventional medicine and antibiotics. Oh, I did also get to hear a small snippet of the Vaccine Info Chat. I can’t believe 1 in 10 children have some sort of neurodevelopmental issue–it is getting far too common for comfort!
There were also activities for the kids, such as a craft room and a bounce house. There were several vendors of chemical-free cleaning products, gluten-free foods (they were making quinoa pancakes on the spot and serving with raw butter!) and other handmade odds and ends. I really wish I had the memory card along with the camera!
